Theatrical Cubes
A downloadable cube note for Windows
I'll make a mobile port soon, maybe in a few days.
DESCRIPTION OF THE GAME:
So basically, you're a white cube and you have to attack and defeat other colorful cubes. Which expel notes upon getting hurt and their chord when dying. The main thing here is to get a high score from hitting and killing enemies, that's mainly it. All the other things like glow, props and some easter eggs are there to make the gameplay slightly more interesting. All in all, I hope you have fun playing it, with how simple it is.
Comment any bugs, btw, I'll do my best to fix it.
Or perhaps any feedback or suggestion to help the game be better.
DEVLOG:
The fact that I used AI for parts of the code, especially parts where I got stuck such as which enemy should approach the player (ChatGPT), why sometimes using certain functions aren't working (I used Claude for those and the rest), etc. (I forgot about the other parts).
The ones I remember besides the mentioned, are fixing player logic regarding the finite state machine, because it was being wonky.
The enemy teleporting to the player, then the AI helped me figure that it was somewhere else, which was in the player's hit logic.
I mainly did so because I couldn't figure those things out on my own.
Yes, I do regret using AI for the code feedback, not figuring things out by myself or searching it up at least. I probably will get disqualified, but I will still try to pass anyway. I don't remember if I asked AI for brainstorming ideas besides coding, which most were my idea, I just had no idea how to do or figure out some of them.
Everything else, such as the art and all the other mechanics, I made and somehow figured out on my own. The music and sound effects were also all mine. I mainly used my guitar for the instrument and my laptop/phone for recording.
Although majority of the things are from my feeble smooth brain such as the core mechanics which were really simple.
I was intending to add a parry mechanic to activate invincibility but ultimately scrapped it while I was working on the attack mechanics because I figured that it would probably take me so long to get working.
I also wanted to add a curtain animation upon entering the stage, but there wasn't enough time, at least before the deadline.
I don't know what else to add.
Update 1: tried to fix a bug where a player couldn't attack while moving.
